Our HR Practice until recently had three fee-earners; Basil leRoux, Jane Firth and Milly Black. Basil joined us in early 2017 as Head of Practice and is based in Manchester, Jane joined in 2016 and sits in London; and Milly joined in January 2019. Jane has recently been offered an opportunity to move internally into the HR Practice at Odgers Berndtson. We now seek to replace her role by recruiting an established consultant to join the team. With ambitious growth plans to build on this success we now seek to expand the practice by recruiting an established consultant to join the team. The successful candidate will have the confidence to win and transact retained business.
Our IT, Digital and Technology Practice is current made up of three; Matthew Cockbill, Alex Richardson and Kathryn Gallan. Matt is based in Birmingham and joined us in 2005 as Head of Practice, Alex is based in Manchester and focuses on IT Leadership within the public sector, and Kat is based in Birmingham focusing on Digital appointments.

The role of a Researcher is to identify, assess, approach and select candidates.
You will support our Fee Earners with the generation and management of candidates for client assignments and with wider projects such as market mapping and event marketing.
Candidate Generation & Attraction
- Working with Fee Earners to identify appropriate target firms and construct the search strategy to be undertaken
- Utilising our in-house CRM system, LinkedIn, external databases, social media, sourcing calls and the internet to generate suitable candidates and market intelligence for each assignment. Continually expanding, updating and improving the existing candidate pool
- Actively head-hunt relevant candidates, conducting initial telephone interviews with interested candidates
- Assessing and qualify those with the right skills and ensure fit for interview by the Consultant
- Providing feedback to Consultants with details of candidates who are interested, outlining their relevant experience and motivations
- With every approach made, promoting our reputation through effective candidate handling which consistently promotes, protects and extends BP’s reputation. This includes standing down candidates in a manner ensuring future approaches will be welcomed and valued.
Assignment Support
- Where appropriate, attending client briefings and contributing to the search strategy
- Working with PA’s to prepare weekly Client Progress Reports, illustrating the assignment landscape and adapting/amending as the assignment develops
- Providing feedback on market reaction to an assignment, the perception of the client and any other pertinent information gained
- Adhering to best practice, ensuring all required candidate information is kept accurate
- Have a keen awareness of diversity and actively encourage a diverse talent bank

The PA function within Berwick Partners is essential to our success. PAs actively support Partners, Principals and Consultants (Fee Earners) and will support the management of the assignment process, end to end.
The role of a Berwick Partners PA involves:
- Developing relationships with clients and candidates, gaining trust and building rapport, playing a key role in ensuring the smooth running of an assignment; communicating clearly both verbally and in written format
- Organising your own work and that of the Fee-Earners including diary management, arranging candidate and client interviews, reading reports, making travel arrangements and preparing presentations
- Confidently managing Fee-Earners effectively including their workload, calls and deadlines – as well as pre-empting what should be happening on assignments, making the Fee-Earner aware of upcoming issues.
- Liaising with our advertising agency to place high quality advertising copy
- Adhering to assignment best practice and ensuring records are kept up to date
- Managing expenses, travel forms and invoicing, adhering to Berwick Partners policy
- Demonstrating a cooperative and flexible nature – assisting others in the practice when required and being willing to “go the extra mile” when needed
