    The Executive Assessment and Development Practice

    The practice is in growth mode and the UK team is playing a significant role in building the global practice.  As part of this expansion, we are seeking to appoint a further team member at Principal level, who will make a vital contribution to all dimensions of this vision.

     

    The Principal role profile

     

    You will be strongly motivated to grow a business which is focused on making a difference and highly effective at business development. You will work in partnership with colleagues to develop, shape and realise leads across the firm, locally and globally.

    Ideally you will bring a network and a track record of revenue generation. You will have a reputation for building trusted client relationships and the ability to build out services that the EAD team can offer.

    It is essential that you have the personal credibility and technical ability to operate at a senior stakeholder level and deliver insightful assessments and impactful development solutions.

    A values-orientated team player, you will work closely alongside Liz Stewart, Partner & Head of the EAD Practice, and will contribute to the growth of the practice and support the ongoing development of junior colleagues.

    Other Key Responsibilities and required attributes include: 

    Commercial Excellence

    • Be an expert in an area of the EAD vision; shape commercial solutions and thought leadership in order to grow our Board, CEO and C-Suite consulting services and have a positive impact on the firm’s positioning and reputation
    • Develop a sound business development strategy for your portfolio of responsibility to maximise and leverage current relationships, cross-sell into other parts of the firm and proactively develop new business areas and clients
    • For key clients, support the development of key accounts to ensure high levels of continual work and an expanded portfolio of services are won and executed
    • Ensure timely, professional, high-quality delivery and commercial returns on each EAD assignment whether acting as the lead or alongside the Partner

    Working Collaboratively

    • Act as an influential advisor who commands respect with both clients and colleagues locally and globally, both winning and executing work
    • Actively utilise the Odgers Berndtson network; introduce, include and support colleagues in pitches and assignments to deliver the best results for our clients and maximise firm-wide business development opportunities and referrals
    • Take the lead on, or support the Partner in, shaping proposals, participating in pitches, and delivering EAD projects where appropriate

    Quality & Reliability

    • Continuously promote Odgers Berndtson’s reputation at all times through the quality of your work and the depth of your insight and knowledge
    • Provide exceptional client and candidate management; closely monitor, manage and deliver EAD assignments to time and to exceed clients’ expectations without sacrificing commercial returns and achieve outstanding client & candidate feedback
    • Adhere to the firm’s systems, processes, and operational guidelines; be proactive in suggesting and developing new ways of delivering the best results and sharing best practice and ensure an active awareness of Diversity and the implications on EAD projects

    Communicating & Influencing

    • Create and share insightful marketing material and thought leadership both internally and externally to generate interest and awareness and demonstrate your insight into EAD
    • Continuously maintain an up to date knowledge and expertise in building exceptional leadership
    • Deliver first-class quality written work, a beacon for accuracy and best practice from which others can learn

    • Develop a personal brand and profile by engaging with clients and colleagues and consistently delivering high quality work
    • Demonstrate an eagerness to continually develop yourself and show a willingness to learn from others; be accountable for your own development and career path
    • Take an active interest in the advancement of the team through mentoring, coaching, training and recruitment initiatives when appropriate

    About you

    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a related field in a client facing capacity as the in-house lead or as a leadership consultant or business psychologist providing executive leadership, development and assessment solutions ie development programmes, assessments, coaching etc.
    • A proven track record of business development and client relationship management, including early shaping of solutions and proposals, participating at pitches and delivering high quality reports and impactful and value-added analysis and insight
    • Ideally have a post graduate qualification in Occupational Psychology or related field, with BPS level A and B accreditation, and experience of using a variety of psychometric instruments and assessment methods.
    • Strong commercial acumen, intellectually flexible and personally credible
