  • About the role

    The Industrial Practice in the UK supports start-ups, family owned and Private Equity backed businesses, as well as UK and overseas listed multinational companies.

     

    Sectors addressed range from new markets in green energy and modular homes to utilities, real estate, building products, support services, logistics, rail, automotive, aerospace and defence technology companies. Key accounts include Jaguar Land Rover, Bombardier Transportation, QinetiQ and BAE Systems. Searches undertaken within the Practice include general management, technical, commercial and operational positions.

     

    The Practice often works on a broad range of roles pivotal to the national interest at the public private interface, where government is a key stakeholder and has delivered prestige assignments pivotal to major (£multi-billion) infrastructure projects such as Crossrail and High Speed Two.  

     

    Research is fundamental to what we do. It is the backbone of each search assignment and is central to ensuring that we consistently deliver creative and diverse outcomes that provide tangible benefits to our clients.  Client’s rely on our market intelligence and trust us to be representatives of their brand.  

    • Provide research support for a portfolio of live mandates and other business development projects, manage expectations with fee earners, successfully balancing competing priorities
    • Play a key role in enabling the practice to provide a timely, professional and valued service to our clients
    • Cultivate meaningful relationships within your network and work in partnership with clients, candidates and colleagues alike
    • Be relentless in your pursuit of market knowledge and intelligence
    • Support fee earners with pitch preparation where necessary in the form of presentations and business intelligence.
    • Attend marketing and business development events and a variety of other social networking engagements with senior business leaders.
    • Produce high-quality, insightful and robust written work, in forms of longlist reports, references and candidate reports
    • Proactively assist colleagues and willingly share the workload in order to support practice activities
    • Take part in company-wide projects and collaborate with other practices and locations

    About you

    You will be an experienced researcher and ideally have some experience within the Industrial sector.

    Key attributes and experience should include a combination of:

    • A self-starter with excellent time management and prioritisation skills
    • Cope well with unforeseen change and able to flex accordingly with the assignment needs, work well under pressure and deliver high quality results
    • Demonstrates a high level of intellect, natural intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm for the sector
    • Able to build credible relationships over the telephone and in person
    • Outstanding communication skills both verbally and in writing
    • Systems literate and fastidious in your use of technology so as to accurately store information
    • Analytical with the ability to think laterally and creatively
    • A rigorous methodical approach, exceptional attention to detail and high levels of tenacity
    • Team-oriented with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
